You look at my door and you know it’s Christmas

December 24th, 2010

Christmas is such a busy time, and this year has been no exception. This year my main craft project was to make a wreath for my door, and this is what I created.

Christmas wool wreath

It turned out to be really simple this is what I used….

  • 1 foam wreath
  • 3 balls of wool
  • a scrap of red shiny material

I simply wrapped the wool around and around the foam wreath and then tied a nice bow with the red material! Too easy. I love it that sometimes the simplest things look so lovely!

Don’t you think it makes my house look all Christmas-y and inviting.

Other than being greedy…. here is another fun christmas thing

December 23rd, 2010

So… Something you don’t know about me is that for my 9-5 job I’m a scientist. Yep that’s me every day playing around with test tubes and bunsen burners, I working in a lab researching cancer treatments. Although I love it, the lab can be quite a sterile environment and not much source of inspiration for me. But.. I work with what I have and for Christmas this year I sparked up our lab with a lovely advent calendar. The gift for each day was a nerdy science joke. Check it out…

I’m sorry to all those non scientist out there who don’t get just how cool this calendar is… But don’t we all love a good advent calendar!

Have you made an advent calendar this year????

Spanish lessons! I want spanish lessons, you can do them at Box Hill Institute, which is right near my house, which would be handy. I want them so I can go to all the fun places like Mexico, and Spain without the I can’t speak Spanish fear like I did last time.  Also it would be really nice to be able to read this blog Dudua  becasue it looks really cool……

Found! Cat and Mouse Skittles

September 13th, 2010

I made these little beauties for my nephew. They are skittles (aka 10 pin bowls), the pins are the mice and the ball is a cat. He’s not even 2 yet so he does not really know how to play, but he loves them anyway. Sewn out of different colour felt, they where really simple to make. I hope you like them.

Thanks for the photo’s Sal.

Lost and found in computerland….

September 12th, 2010

I really wanted to post to you today about the cat and mouse skittles that I made for my nephew. I had my friend Sally take me some great photo’s of them for me but now I can’t find them, they are lost on my computer somewhere…So I was a bit at a loss as to what to post about today, BUT!! I found these, not only where these photo’s taken by Sally, but the granny squares where also made by Sally. Isn’t she talented and good at taking photos too! We both went to crochet school together and I’m a bit jealous that she is flying ahead of me with leaps and bounds in crocheting…
