I have developed a crush

January 31st, 2011

On Friday I blogged to you about Atelier Abigail and Ahern, and the most excellent of lamps that you can get from them. Well on further investigation i have fallen in love with everything that is Atelier Abigail and Ahern. The interior design service, the awsome products that she sells and the blog that she writes. I love that she does not believe in painting all the surfaces in a house white,I love the homely feel that her interior design style gives to me, and I love the quirkiness.

Do you have a crush now too?

Wet Wet Wet

January 14th, 2011

No I’m not talking about the song “Love is all around” by Wet Wet Wet. I’m talking about these terrible floods we are having here in Australia, particularly Queensland. It’s pretty bad, not only the death toll, but the clean up is going to be horrendous. I urge anyone if they can donate to the flood relief appeal or sign up to the Volunteering Queensland to help. I would also urge you in this situation to remember the farmers. After years of drought It’s been a particularly wet year, and there have been floods all around the country. This hits a personal note for me with at this point in time my family is waiting to have the 3rd flood of the last 12 months on our property in Central Victoria, this one predicted to be the biggest of them all.  The last one put 6 inches of water through my grandparents’ house, which they have lived in for 60 years and has always remained dry during floods.  I’ve recently been looking through old slides of my Grandfather’s and when they were younger they had a beautiful house with a beautiful garden.

It’s extremely heartbreaking to see it after the water went through, and the clean up has been horrendous (i thought that painting would be fun but let me tell you it’s not!) and just as we are thinking we are on the home straight it is being threatened again with an even bigger flood.

The house is one thing but the floods take a huge toll on the farming communities, the continuing work of moving livestock to higher ground (if there is any higher ground), the crops being destroyed, the fences being destroyed or totally covered in grass and removal is a labour intensive job that can only be done bit by bit with a pitch fork, these things only scratch the surface of how these communities are effected.  So during this time remember the farmers, and if you can help then out then do, becasue without the farmers we would be pretty hungry.

We all love a good wedding

August 24th, 2010

I just have to share with you the wedding of 2 of my best friends, Sally and Rothie. Rothie is the lovely man who is helping me with all the technical side of this blog, and Sally well she is my sounding board and photo lady, I wouldn’t be here without either of them.

Almost 12 months ago now they tied the knot. Sally looked absolutely stunning in a short 1950’s inspired dress that was made for her especially by Melbourne based designer Peta Pledger . Sal quite simply found dress by Peta on the web found out she was in Melbourne and asked for it to be made in white!

The wedding was at Brandy Creek Wines in Drouin, a winery with a Spanish restaurant (who make the best pork belly starter that I have ever tasted). Sal and Rothie put so many lovely touches on the wedding, the cupcake cake made (both the stand and cupcakes) by one of Sally’s family friends, and little Polaroid photo’s on all the tables, and the simple white box bonbonniere’s and name cards (that I helped her with) that had honey joys inside and a button badge on the top.

I may be bias but it was a great wedding!

Nanna Culture! Here we are……

August 1st, 2010

Finally! It’s been a while coming but finally I’m here! The first and the most important post, is to thank the people who have gotten me here. Isn’t it just so special to have great friends.

To my computer wiz man Rothie, where would I be without you, I can tell you how much I have missed you in the past couple of weeks.

To Sally, my photo and photoshop genius and support line, you know just how special I think you are,  your never allowed to go on holidays again!

And to those people who have believed in me, you know who you are (because in actual fact you’ll probably be the only ones reading this) I would never have undertaken this project without your help and support, I love you all.

Now lets get onto the good stuff!
