DIY from my friends

April 7th, 2011

Kate from the lovely design*sponge put me onto these today, Kokedama or Japanese moss balls.

She found a great DIY of them from Aura Scaringi’s blog Miss Moussetache. Check it out, on design*sponge here, or on Miss Moussetache here.

If you feel like it you can make me a few too, they would look lovely in my garden.

Totally excited for finders keepers.

February 10th, 2011

Ok the bloggers block is definately gone. I was just having a browse around the interwebs and got totally excited becasue the finders keepers market is coming back to Melbourne and soon! So get your diarys out and ready and mark of a day to have a look.  the 26th and 27th of March at Shed 4 Victoria Harbour.

This will be the 2nd market that they have held in Melbourne, and let me tell you, it was FANTASTIC last time. Best market I have been to in a very very long time.

One day I might even have a stall of my own there.

Once upon a time. I went out shopping

January 20th, 2011

While I was out shopping I found a cool little thing called Doily News. They are doilys made from unsold newspapers. How cool are they! Use them as coasters, decorations, even to decorate your wrapping paper, your imagination is your only limitation.

With the huge floods going on over the weekend, I’ve been thinking about my Dad. He like many of the farmers up home have their work cut out for them over the next few months, getting things back to normal.

So i thought I would tell you how spoilt he was for his 60th this year. Not only did he get lovely presents and taken out to dinner but I made him a cake!

What?? He’s a farmer, he likes sheep!

It’s a bit rough as I was just learning the delicate art of cake decorating. I used butter icing for the face, it was very interesting trying to get it black (a  tip I have found out since is to use coca and then the colouring). The white icing was icing sugar and egg-whites with marshmallows stuck on it, as plain butter icing was too yellow. My dad is spoilt isn’t he!
