Wool in Bendigo! Who would have guessed!?

January 6th, 2011

Hey peeps, another thing researched while I was in Bendigo the other week, was the hype I’ve been hearing about the Bendigo Woolen Mills. I’m ashamed to say I grew up in Bendigo and have only just found out about this wonderful resource that I had on my doorstep for all these years.

Did you know that they are the largest hand knitting mail order manufacturer in Australia? And it’s only of very recent times that they have moved to internet sales, previously us nanna’s would fill our orders via phone or fax. Anything that is based on mail order and  has survived this long without the internet must be good!  You are buying direct from the manufacturer so you get factory direct prices, they have the largest range of natural fiber yarns anywhere in the world.

Wool, Knitting, Crochet

So i say for your next knitting project have a look online for your wool, or if not they have a factory shop in Bendigo at 4 Lansell St. You never know my dad’s a sheep farmer and you may just get some of his wool, the chances are high :)

Oh and they sell some pretty awesome patterns as well. Like this lovely jumper ;)

Oh my goodness! The only reason I dont have a house full off wool is because at the moment I have to wait till I have a free Sat morning to get to the wool shop to stock up… but now you’ve just told me I can get awesome cheap wool online at any time… this could be very bad!

Do you know what made me most excited? They sell wool on the cones that you can use in a knitting machine, mum has a knitting machine, i’m going to steal it.

Cool, I’ve never seen a knitting machine. You should post pics of it!

  4. Rachael says:

I will! Have to dig deep in the cupboards to find it though I think.
